Back to the Groove: Victory VIII - Vermont

(8.4) Victor VIII- Vermont

It’s been a while since my last blog post. I didn’t really know what to talk about for a long time. I guess I’ve had writer’s block for sometime now. I’m kinda excited to get back to writing random things here and there. The whole reason I stopped writing in the first place was because I was working on three separate political campaigns which were kinda dirty. Couldn’t afford to post my mind on tumblr whenever I felt the need. Had to be under the radar. Unemployment though has allowed me to come back and write whatever’s on the mind.

So after little though and deliberation I’ve decided I’m gonna start posting songs I find online that are just spectacular. For today, I think I’m going to shoot up this tune by Victory VIII. I’ve never heard of these peeps before, but so far I’m digging the sound. I love the pads, easy going keys, and the Beach House like vocals. The drums are a little bit too easy going for my taste, but I respect the subtleness since I tend to overemphasize drum tracks on my personal creations.

Victory VIII, signed to Holiday Records, definitely has a nostalgic vibe which is utterly pleasing for listeners like myself. Although I don’t quite understand the Vermont reference entirely, I’m digging the nostalgia. Vermont’s a place of freedom, idleness, peace. The music matches the location perfectly. I’m excited to see what these folks have for future releases.
